The U.S. Army Military Police Corps Regimental Museum at Fort Leonard Wood provides an in-depth look at the history and missions of one of the Army's lesser known but vital branches. The Military Police motto is “Of the Troops and For the Troops,” which guides their efforts to uphold law, order and discipline.

The Military Police Corps traces its origins to the early American frontier in the late 1700s. Their duties have evolved over the centuries from providing security, controlling traffic, guarding prisoners of war, investigating crimes, and conducting combat operations during wartime. Military police soldiers require extensive training across a wide range of policing and defensive skills.

Fort Leonard Wood in central Missouri has served as the primary training center for Army Military Police since 1941. The post was originally built from scratch as a training installation to meet the demands of World War II. The Military Police School was formally established here in 1951 and has remained ever since. Hundreds of thousands of soldiers have graduated from the rigorous MP training programs at Fort Leonard Wood over the past seven decades.

The Military Police Corps Regimental Museum opened in 1987 as part of the U.S. Army MP School. Its goal is to preserve the heritage and honor the sacrifices of Military Police units and personnel throughout history. Thousands of soldiers undergoing MP training visit the museum annually to foster a connection to those who served before them.

The museum is housed in a historic WWII-era building filled with exhibits and artifacts arranged chronologically. Displays cover major conflicts from World War I through the Global War on Terror. Uniforms, weapons, equipment and vehicles highlight the evolution of MP roles and capabilities on the battlefield.

Several galleries are devoted to MP combat operations and deployments in Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan. These convey the difficult, dangerous missions Military Police have undertaken in support of the Army’s larger objectives. Their adaptability and bravery is strongly emphasized.

Another section pays tribute to the MP K-9 Corps and their vital contributions. Visitors can see unique gear for the police dogs along with stories of their heroic feats locating mines, tracking enemies and more. A memorial wall remembers MP soldiers who perished in the line of duty.

Through an extensive collection of archives, photographs, oral histories, and memorabilia, the Military Police Corps Regimental Museum provides profound insights into these soldiers who have dedicated themselves to upholding stability and security within the Army ranks for more than 200 years. It serves as an invaluable repository documenting the never-ending evolution of the Military Police and their central role in military history.
