The Newberry Museum located at PO Box 343, Newberry, SC 29108 showcases the history, culture, and heritage of Newberry County. This local museum was established in 1970 by a group of dedicated volunteers committed to preserving Newberry's past for future generations.

Housed in a historic 1892 building that originally served as the Newberry Cotton Oil and Fertilizer Company, the museum features exhibits and artifacts spanning over 200 years of Newberry County's development. Displays rotate through various topics highlighting different aspects of the area's rich history. Recent exhibitions have focused on Newberry's origins, the Civil War's impact locally, milestones in education, agriculture and industry, historic figures, and more.

The museum's collection originated from longtime residents donating items passed down through generations that provide invaluable glimpses into earlier eras. On display are vintage clothing and accessories, furniture, household tools and appliances, quilts, Native American artifacts, military uniforms and equipment, historic maps and photographs, and other materials illustrating how Newberrians lived, learned, worked and played in the 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries.

In addition to the core exhibits, the Newberry Museum hosts programs and events throughout the year. Annual highlights include a Frontier Day celebrating 18th century living with reenactors, demonstrations, and activities; a Quilt Gala showcasing elaborately stitched heirlooms; and a SummerFest with live entertainment, artisans, and family activities. Lectures, workshops, and tours are offered on various aspects of regional history. A small gift shop features local history books, handcrafted items, and memorabilia.

The Newberry Museum provides a lens through which visitors can explore and connect with the community's past.
